01 - Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat.
02 - In a bowl, mix the ground beef with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Shape into 4 equal patties, about ¾ inch thick.
03 - Cook the bacon in a skillet over medium heat until crisp, about 6–8 minutes. Drain on paper towels.
04 - Grill or pan-sear the beef patties for 3–4 minutes per side, or until your desired doneness. Place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty during the last minute of cooking to melt.
05 - Toast the burger buns cut side down until golden.
06 - Spread mayonnaise on the bottom bun (if using), add lettuce, tomato, beef patty with cheese, bacon strips, avocado slices, and onion (if using). Finish with the top bun.
07 - Serve immediately with your favorite sides.
