- Preheat your oven to 350°F. Grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan with butter or cooking spray, or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.
- In a large mixing bowl, peel and mash the ripe bananas until smooth. Pour in the melted butter and stir until well incorporated.
- Add the eggs, brown sugar, and vanilla extract to the banana mixture. Whisk thoroughly until the mixture is uniform and slightly frothy.
- Sprinkle the flour, baking soda, and salt evenly over the wet mixture. Using a spatula, gently fold the dry ingredients into the wet just until no flour streaks remain. Be careful not to overmix.
- Fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips and chopped nuts (if using) until evenly distributed throughout the batter.
- Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan. Smooth the top with a spatula and optionally sprinkle a few extra chips on top. Bake for 50 to 55 minutes.
- Insert a toothpick into the center of the loaf. It is done when the toothpick comes out mostly clean with a few moist crumbs attached.
- Allow the bread to cool in the pan for 10 minutes. Remove from the pan and transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.
